Soldiers
I always had a fascination for the army / navy / air force. Though I've been a coward enough not to join them, I deeply appreciate what they do for their country, and how pittily they are paid for their services to the country.
I wonder all these mallayas and ambanis, instead of buying cricket teams and all, can't they devote that money to army veterans in India?
But no, they must buy a silly cricket company and make more money out of it!

Tsonga !!
Jesus Christ. He demolished Nadal. I havn't seen anyone this exciting in man's tennis since Roger Federer took over the reins. Bloody brilliant.

Oz open
I think this is a great day for women's tennis. Not only is scrawny Henin out, so are water buffalo Serena and ostrich Venus!
Rest of the matches between the girls should now be fun! I expect a tough fight.

I'm scared
In less than a month, I will be tying the knot. But a knot has already developed within my stomach. Its a weird feeling that engulfs me every time I think about marriage. Two years ago, I was all ready to marry and settle down, and yet as the time grows near I feel intimidated and apprehensive. There are a thousand thoughts and things in my mind that just won't settle down. And as the time grows nearer, its only more difficult.
I think the fear of something not working out is worrying me more than working out. I wonder how people live happily in marriage then...

Weinstephan
I have found a new found love for this beer. Had it at a friend's place in San Jose, and discovered this brewery which claims to be the oldest in the world!!
Awesome beer though.

On third thoughts...
...I think music of Jodhaa Akbar is boring. Doesn't fit the majestic billing of the story.
...For the past few Rahman albums I always get this feeling that he doesn't put in 100%. If he had tweaked the songs a little bit, they would sound amazing, but he doesnt go that extra step. It just feels he puts in 90% effort.
God whatever am I speaking!

Fender Stratocaster
My friend bought a strat this Saturday. [:-(]Now I want to own one too. Too bad, I can't play more than five chords and a broken down rhythm.

My Brain's in a warp!
Had a nice lunch, went to sleep. Then I had a nightmare dream. I was in dream within a dream within a dream.
The funny thing is that the the story was co-related and I had the rage virus. So even though I was waking up from one dream into another, I was still having the virus and running...
...Very disturbing. I had to "really" get up, examine myself and have a nice cup of tea.

Sleepless nights
I must say that at one point during the night I was convinced both would lose - India and Federer. But I was pleased to see both win.
So.. India won! Looks like the umpires didn't get their cheques in time. Only 2 wrong decisions this time instead of ten.

Jodhaa Akbar
I half fell asleep when I heard songs the first time. By third time I must admit they are really, really good.
The song Man Mohana is just out of this world - reminds me a lot of O Palanhare, but much much better - this song is just freaking awesome!

Postal Service
Postal service sends me a notice of "Change of Address" - i.e they want to make sure I am changing my address.
All is well till I read the last line in this notice:
"If you cannot understand English please take this letter to the nearest post office"
And how exactly would anyone read that line if they don't know English befalls me.

Bachelor Party
It was all very well until.... the girls decided to gate crash the party! Luckily they didnt show up in the club itself, but still, I must admit, either their husbands are cuckolds or these women are completely insecure!
Though that said, had a gala gala time in the club...very memorable!

Tragedy
I think i have discovered something. And that is, i like tragedy! I like tragic movies, tragic books and any story that has a sense of remorse or tragedy associated with it. I mean I dont like the rona-dhona type stories or where everyone breaks into tears at drop of a hat, but something abt tragedies pull me in.
Geez, I must watch Atonement again. Thats all it is :P

Dunkirt - Atonement
Here's the background score used in the best scene of the movie. What a beautiful background music this is - truly moving and touching.
Of course the scene itself is a masterpiece - should be on youtube too I think...

Atonement
Brilliant. Just Brilliant. A beautiful book adapted even more beautifully. A must watch!
James McAvoy rocks - he easily deserves the best actor award for this movie. And the Dunkirk scene - what a poignantly shot war scene.
Not to be missed movie!

Why does a nonsensical sport like American football even exist?

17:10
We have all heard about people dialing wrong numbers. But at 17:10 I received something more modern - a wrong SMS. And not for the first time either.
It went something like this:
"U at work 2day? Got d prez U had sent. Tks. Stephen called. Am goin out wid him on a date 2nite. Yay!!"
I couldn't resist and wrote back:
"You do know Stephen is gay, right?"
Waiting for a reply..

Call to the nation.
Declare the BCCI a terrorist organisation, seize its funds and disband it! Enough is enough :P People need to be provided complete transparency to see how this shady organisation runs!

Extended lunches are a boon to mankind. The world would be a sad place without them.
I'd have loved to say I ate everything I wanted but whatever I had I had LOTS of it. Now only if I could take a short nap..

Plainly out of boredom I just ordered myself a camera. The same camera I have been wanting for eons now, and never getting because it was ridiculously expensive here.
But there comes a moment when a man say. "Hell with it!" 12:57 on Monday was that moment :P
Monday doesn't seem that bad anymore..

Just wondering.. It is all well and good to criticize the umpiring and Australian team spirit. But what about the spineless BCCI ??
Anyhow, my Monday has gone slightly quieter at the moment. I like it this way! :P

People have started coming in and bothering me. Do they not have something to do at home.. attend to their kids, go on long vacations, attend their great grandfathers funeral SOMETHING!
This Monday is about to get more boring!

The beginning of a very boring day, undoubtedly. The only saving grace is that not many people around to bother me!

Lousy Aussies
I wonder if all sportsmen in that country are like that or what? Pathetic mongrels.

This just in
A grasshopper was found hopping about at the Sydney cricket ground today.
Adam Gilchrist suggested painting it pink.
Rahul Dravid wanted to use it as his new bat. "Wouldn't make a difference anyway" he remarked.
Steve Bucknor looked at it for 15 minutes and nodded. People are still wondering what he meant.
Andrew Symonds looked at it for 10 milliseconds and accused it of racial abuse ! "Didn't like the way he was looking at me" complained the dashing cricketer with homeless-people-like hairstyle .

BB
Lately the media has been covering only one story, that of BB assassination. Yes it was a tragic event and one really feels for her family and children. Regardless of where she stood politically or how she governed she was a human being and a mother a fact thats lost on the overzealous fanatics.
That said, one can't just resist but say that hatred breeds hatred. When you feed a snake you might one day get bitten by it. Sample these videos. These ought to be a lesson to all who cry about minority oppression and highlight BB's role in breeding something that ultimately proved fatal to her own self.

The difference between wild gorilla and a true sportsman...
...Andrew Symonds.
A wild gorilla stays at crease knowing fully well he's out, and justifies his stand by blaming it on a dumb umpire who couldn't hear the nick.
A true sportsman walks away.
Yes, Symonds, thats a big difference. How would you know anyways?

2007
The beginning was awful, then it was great, then it became a trite, then good news, good news, and more good news.
But yeah, this has been an eventful year - I moved houses twice, met my honey, decided to get hitched, company I worked for got bought out, now I am abt to move all over again...
I am looking forward to 2008 - I wish I can stay in DC only and not move west. I hope somebody (read: my boss) is reading this and allows me to stay put in DC!
